About this project
B.R. Howard was contracted to conserve a marble sculpture in a monastery. The sculpture had painted multiple times to hide areas which had been previously been repaired. Other elements had fractured or were missing.
What we did
B.R. Howard carefully removed the layers of paint and surface cleaned the marble. Old repairs were poorly secured. These areas were removed, reattached, and cracks were matched and filled with Jahn M120 marble mortars. The missing marble sections were recurved and inserted. The repair joints were also filled with Jahn M120. The stature was then crated and delivered to the monastery.
